We always do prayers in some or the other way for some or the other reason. Prayers are done to thank God, to ask for some or the other help, to take care of health, money, family, friends, loved ones and many more. Some people pray only when they are in need, some people do as their moods is, some do it regularly but in Mumbai locals it’s something different and unique.
As we all know life line of Mumbai or we can say heartbeat of Mumbai are local trains. Early morning people rush towards stations to catch their daily timing trains. Catching trains here is like winning a war and if you get a seat you feel like a king :-). We Mumbaikar’s are always short of time, and most of them always do multitasking. While travelling in these trains you will find group of people singing devotional songs. These devotional songs are sung by commuters while travelling into the train. They are all called as Bhajan Mandals. When the group is formed they start with the songs and as the station arrives one after the other, some more people join. They are the group of commuters who travel together every day in the same compartment, same time, carrying the loudest musical instrument (dhols, taal) they can produce. In locals some people spend their time by playing cards, sleeping and some do stupid things standing at the exit but the best way to spend time is singing with these groups of people. I myself being a daily commuter always see these people singing in loud voice and enjoying. When I am with them I forget my problems, frustrations, stress free. I personally believe it’s a tension-reducing activity. Nowadays, some group have also started singing vintage Bollywood songs, pop songs and Marathi songs too.
I observed once that two students were playing games in their phones. This Bhajan Mandal started singing their devotional songs and immediately one guy side “inka natak chalu hogaya, ab yeh nai rukne wala”. They were not getting disturbed or irritate, they were trying to be different
, I mean stupid :-).
This is a short video of group of people singing in local trains of Mumbai.

The Temple of Lord Shiva is on the slope of hill which is known as Tungareshwar Hill & nearby flow of Tungareshwar River & behind temple there is “Ram kund”. In addition to the ancient temple, river there is beautiful streams and waterfalls. If you want to reach to the temple or waterfall you have to walk 3 km as auto rickshaws will leave you at the entrance. Auto Rickshaw takes 30 Rs per seat. When we started walking I saw there are streams flowing down which was great; loving nature. It almost took more than 1 hour to reach Lord Shiva temple. Temple is well maintained and you will find small temple at the entrance and behind the temple. You will find lot of monkeys which are searching for food and if they find in your hand they will snatch it away :). After doing darshan we preceded our journey to waterf...
Blog No: 13 Nature has a very great impact on every one’s life and we are lucky to have some places nearby us. Recently I visited Pandavkada Waterfall which is in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Almost everyone came from our class which was really not expected ;). This is the second place which I have visited in monsoon and my first attempt to Pandavkada and it was quite good and safe from Tungareshwar. To reach Pandavkada waterfall one has to catch train from Harbour line and get down at Kharghar station. Outside the station there is Kharghar depot, catch Bus No. 54 and get down at Pandavkada stop. Bus ticket cost only 9 Rs and within 15 minutes you will reach your destination. After getting down you can see around its full of greenery and waterfall is clearly visible. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to reach near the wonderful waterfall. There is no difficulty in going there as it has a proper way. There is no risk and even small children can easily go through it. While walking you ...
Blog No: 12 As I was going to my college 5 days back, while passing I saw a board sign which said opening soon. When I saw it clearly it was McDonald's and I had a huge smile on my face. That day only I decided, will go on the first day itself. I have always loved McDonald's and for me it comes first compared to KFC, Dominos, Subway, etc. If you have 100 Rs you can easily full your tummy in McDonald's but at other places it will take all your pocket money. I and my friends had entered today on the first day itself. It is just besides my college and 10 minutes walk from Seawoods station, Navi Mumbai. I will post the address below. There is no McDonald's in Seawoods and hardly we have any branch in Navi Mumbai which is nearby station. Either we had to go Vashi or some other place, for that we have to miss our lectures and next day we are in trouble. This opening of McDonald's is very special to us as we don’t have any hangout place near our college and from...
