Review: Mumbai Metro: History and My Experience!!!

 Blog No: 03

Recently I was in Mumbai Metro and I was amazed and shocked actually. For some time I had a feeling that I don’t stay in Mumbai  The reason behind this was to observe each and everything while travelling. Well it should had started in 2012 but as we Indians are always late each and everywhere. We are only on time when we want to meet our girl or others girl ;).

Mumbai Metro is operated by Mumbai Metro One PVT Ltd   (MMOPL). It’s a joined venture company owned by Reliance      Infrastructure, Veolia transport and MMRDA. During the construction  of Metro 8 accidents had taken place in which 2 were killed and several  were injured which hardly anyone knows. The cost of this project is    around 4321 crore :) There is one interesting thing about this project is    that they have made water recycling plant so that the water can be used  again and again and there is no wastage of water.

First it used to take 90 to 120 minutes to travel from Ghatkopar to  Versova but now it take only 21 minutes to cover that distance and bypasses 45 signals. 6 Lakh commuters travel daily in that area from one place to another. Everything is properly managed at every station. There are many ticket counters and almost every window is open so that it is easy and fast to take tickets. Security is very strict as you will find police and guards and every 10 step. You will find sign boards everywhere to give you proper direction and guidance which is always helpful. Coaches of the train are excellent and properly designed. Proper seating arrangements and ample amount of place to stand. At a time 1500 passengers can travel easily and safely. You also have a proper view of nature while travelling. There is no need of Ticket checker (TC) as you are cant enter the gate without coupon.

While travelling from Ghatkopar to Andheri all the people who are working are YOUTHS. From security guards to police that also without tummy’s ;), from ticket seller to motor man all are young. I even saw that ladies are driving the metro which was the happiest moment for me while travelling. All over it was a great journey and experience which is something different. There was silence for the first time I saw inside train. They all were busy removing photos and some were even sleepy as it’s totally Air-condition :). Paisa Vasool !!!

All I can say that it’s first and great step towards development in Mumbai and people should use it properly and carefully. For every Mumbaikar it’s something unique and which no one had expected. It’s like dream coming true as we are known as City of Dreams.

Thank you.
